1. Tour de Coop 2011
When: Saturday, July 16, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: At various locations around the Island; get your map when you buy tickets at Bay Hay or Classic Cycle.
Why:
- Chickens!
- Poultry-themed puns.
- Chicken Happy Hour at Bay Hay and Feed after the tour.
2. Haleelts Petroglyph Tour
When: Sunday, July 17, 12 p.m.
Where: Bainbridge Island’s petroglyph rock.
Why: Cool, mysterious, ancient petroglyphs.
Advance reservations are required. Call the Bainbridge Island Historical Society at 842-2773.
3. Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra at Bloedel
When: Sunday, July 17, 4:30 p.m.
Where: Bloedel Reserve, 7571 NE Dolphin Drive.
Why:
- The Seattle Times says about SRJO, “This is an all-star band that cuts to the heart of classic jazz styles and makes them sing.”
- Beautiful setting; perfect for jazz.
4. Northwest Puppet Theater at Bloedel
When: Saturday, July 16, 1 p.m.
Where: The Mansion at Bloedel.
Why:
- Children 12 and under are free.
- Pulcinella, the crafty clown, is sent into the sewers of Parish as punishment!
5. Backyard Chicken Raising
When: Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m.
Where: The Public Library.
Why:
- It’s a great way to prepare yourself for Tour de Coop.
- Experts from WSU Kitsap Small Farms Team will share how to raise chickens in your own backyard.

6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II at Bainbridge Cinema
When: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, July 15-17, and beyond (call theater for times: 855-8173)
Where: Bainbridge Cinema.
Why: If the movie made The New York Times‘ Manohla Dargis cry, there’s got to be something real in it, right?
